Official Opening of the Former Ship Hostel

Classic Builders attended the official opening of the Former Ship Hostel, George Place, Plymouth.  The Classic’s team worked together in a pioneering partnership with Plymouth City Council, South Devon Rural Housing Association and QSH to refurbish the former hostel into 11 units of residential accommodation.

The building had been unoccupied for 7 years and has been recently been converted as part of Plymouth City Council’s “Rent-to-Buy” scheme. Representatives from all the organisations and Maitlands Estate Agency attended the ceremony to officially hand over the keys to Clare, the first tenant to move into the building. Ship Hostel is a great example of Plymouth City Council’s ongoing quest to reduce empty homes in the city and Classic Builders are pleased to support the local community.

These are good quality homes and are a fantastic example of what can be achieved with cooperative working, when a range of partners work together in this way to bring long term vacant buildings back into use.
