Project Description;
Market Walk is a well-known shopping area in the centre of Newton Abbot, Devon.
Appointed by Teignbridge District Council, Classic Builders was instructed to undertake a schedule of works to rejuvenate the popular shopping destination.
Works included (but were not limited to) an extensive programme of demolition, external enveloping of the entire shopping area, creation of pedestrian access routes, upgrades to windows, lighting and rainwater goods, the installation of new shopfront facades and the creation of the new flat roofed areas. The most significant section of works was the creation and installation of a 120-meter glazed canopy over the existing shopping area – creating an enclosed shopping experience.
Some anticipated and permitted night works were necessary to ensure the safe delivery of the required project programme. All works were undertaken without closing or limiting access to Newton Abbot’s shoppers or local business owners. The contract was completed on programme and within budget.
