Project; Sports Community Building

Location; Manadon, Plymouth

Client; Plymouth City Council & Plymouth Argyle Community Trust

Contract; £1.2m

Duration; circa 40 weeks.

Project Description;

Classic Builders is proud to reveal it was appointed to construct a new community sports building for Plymouth City Council and Argyle Community Trust.

Situated just north of the A38 in Plymouth, Manadon Sports Hub is a brand-new steel framed community sports building providing a modern and sophisticated set of facilities. Built over a period of 40 weeks, the project has attracted significant positive media attention and even welcomed former England Goal Keeper Peter Shilton to the formal opening ceremony.

As a central hub for sport, the building includes modern office spaces, an educational suite, sleek changing room facilities, function rooms and a sports strategy room. Externally there are grass pitches, synthetic surface pitches, cricket practice wickets, vast parking facilities and additional infrastructure provisions for future expansion plans. The building serves as an inspirational centre for sporting development in Devon serving both immediate and distant communities. Key drivers for the project were to ensure access for local community members, an economic delivery of contract and to provide facilities to support mixed generational engagement with sports.

Considering the site’s location within a densely populated residential area, Classic Builders paid close attention to minimising possible disruption to the surrounding community and ensuring the highest of health and safety standards were delivered.

Classic Builders would to take this opportunity to thank Plymouth City Council, Argyle Community Trust and the residents of Manadon for the positive support they have showed the project.
