The awards are a celebration for those who are succeeding in pursuing a career in construction whilst completing a modern apprenticeship.
The South West construction industry is currently one of the most flourishing sectors in the United Kingdom. Growth in housing needs, second homes and commercial expansions are each contributing to a significant increase in prosperity. However, as sector professionals retire and new business demand continues to increase, the need for more than 27,000 new highly-skilled employees to enter the industry has never been greater.
Classic Builders is one of the largest SME employers of Apprentices in the South West Construction industry. As a well-respected employer, the business has a firm commitment to supporting Apprentices and encouraging them to realise their full potential.
Ashley O’Neill and Finlay Newns were Classic Builders’ two successful Apprentices. Both secured a place in the final and received praise from Councillor Tudor Evans for their outstanding achievements. Finlay had this to say about his experience –
“It’s an incredible honour to receive such highly-regarded praise for my efforts. I am incredibly proud to work for Classic Builders; the company has supported me to continually grow as a young professional. I would like to thank the Plymouth Apprenticeship Fair Judging Panel for their time and the entire Classic Builders team for their encouragement and support.”
To further support local apprenticeships, Classic Builders attended the coveted Building Plymouth’s Apprenticeship Jobs Fair. Hosted at The Guild Hall in Plymouth on Saturday the 9th March, the event welcomed almost 1,000 individuals wanting to learn more about the exciting opportunities construction apprenticeships can lead to. Sector representatives answered questions and gave young people advice and guidance on careers and qualifications.
The event was an incredible success and Classic Builders has already confirmed it will be returning in 2020 to help those considering a career in construction.
