Project Description;
The client had previously purchased the former Halifax Bank in Newton Abbot and wanted to incorporate it within the main menswear store and toy store by removing structural walls, extending into a rear car park and totally refurbishing the store including supporting large sections of the structure temporarily whilst new steelwork was integrated into the design, thereby improving the shop space.
The extension was a fairly straight forward affair, however the rear of the building required to be totally supported with steel needles and props and new steelwork installed. Internally the layout of the building was revised with staircases removed and realigned and shop display units replaced to provide a more open shopping environment.
The scheme was split into a number of phases to maintain the running of the store without disturbance.
